Well said Kevin, this is a nice balanced view. Java and C++ are not very exciting, but that is their strength, they are stable and they are "get sh$t done" languages and I think ROR is on a steady pace to join that club. Regarding Ruby Gems and NPM, ROR 6.x has pretty seamless support and integration with NPM, so we might see a move away from gems to NPM packages.
